Clean Air Conference 2023

The Clean Air Student Council held the 2023 Clean Air Conference, face-to-face at ESF Island School for the first time in two years on the 22nd of April, 2023.


The conference theme that year was “Air Pollution: the Killer of Health and Ability”, and the event was designed to reflect on how air pollution impacts our well-being and cognitive abilities, as well as ways to tackle the effects. It included guest speaker talks, workshops arranged by students within the Clean Air Student Council, and the presentation of awards for the 2022-23 Hong Kong Environmental Writers’ Competition. 



Speakers

Melville Pradhan

Melville is the Project Manager of Clean Air Network, currently leading "Clean Air Schools for Hong Kong", a flagship project to monitor air quality in multiple schools in Hong Kong in association with HKUST. He carries more than 15 years of experience in the humanitarian and corporate sector and being a a father of a 3-year-old he is dedicated to sharing the message of a better and cleaner environment in Hong Kong schools. At this conference, he shared details of his air-monitoring campaign.





Blaire Ho

As an NGO Delegate at both COP26 and COP27, as well as a former program officer at CarbonCare InnoLab, Blaire is an expert in youth empowerment, developing the Youth Climate Advocacy Training Program as well as the Local Conference of Youth Hong Kong 2021 and 2022. During the 2023 Clean Air Conference, she shared her experience at reputable events alongside details on climate justice and youth advocacy.
